Meet Dr. Lucy Sawrie

Lifetimes of Beautiful Smiles

As a dentist, I’m in a unique position to help each patient achieve optimal oral and overall health with a smile that doesn’t stop! I love how each patient brings his or her own personality to the office and treasure the friendships that grow between us.

I especially like working with younger patients. It’s essential for children to learn why it’s important to care for their teeth and gums, and the best ways to keep their mouth healthy. Luckily, kids are naturally curious and desire to be independent!

By working one-to-one with my patients and their parents, I provide age-appropriate dental education. I show them how to brush and floss properly. We also talk about developing good habits and the importance of good nutrition. I strive to form a team between my patient, the family, and me. Together, we can achieve a lifetime of amazing smiles!

I know it’s essential to provide dental care in a reassuring, welcoming space, where the patients know they’re safe. By ensuring that every visit goes smoothly and painlessly, I help people learn that seeing the dentist is nothing to fret about.

Because Sawrie Family Dentistry is a private practice, I set the schedule. I make sure I budget plenty of time with each patient as I walk them through what we’ll be doing, answer questions, and proceed at a pace at which people are comfortable. Throughout the visit, I stay engaged with my patients: talking and laughing and providing encouragement.

I love when I connect with a patient, set the person or child at ease, and get people to a point where they’re excited about caring for their smile!

Education and Continuing Education

  • Undergraduate – Appalachian State University, Boone, NC
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis

My commitment to education didn’t stop when I received my doctorate. Constant advances occur in dental techniques, technologies, and materials, and it’s essential that I stay current on these changes. My patients deserve leading-edge care that’s comfortable and efficient, and delivers the strongest results. Continuing education helps me exceed their expectations and contributes to the best smiles!

I’m an active member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and Chattanooga Area Dental Society. These organizations offer a range of continuing dental education courses. I’m able to learn from the leading practitioners and researchers in the field. In addition, my husband is an orthodontist: I attend a lot of his professional conferences, too!

Beyond the Office

I grew up here on Signal Mountain and I am thrilled to be a dentist in my hometown!  Daniel, my husband, is a local orthodontist. We have three young children — Chloe, Luke, and Max — and two cats, Rosie and Lightning. Outside the office, you’ll find me with my kids. I love helping at their school and driving them to all their activities!
